Learning at the Supermarket- 08.12.2025

The 8th of December was our ninth meeting as we met at the supermarket where we were learning some necessary food-related vocabulary. When we were in the aisles, we called the various products by their names in Spanish, English and Persian showing one another how to pronounce the words. The visual representation of the items greatly helped me to memorize the new words.

We also discussed the functioning of supermarkets in Tajikistan in contrast to Spain that demonstrated to us minor cultural differences in everyday activities. Even such basic aspects as the way of presentation of fruit or the way the dairy products are arranged made us understand that even the most basic practices differ between countries.

Overall, it was a straightforward yet quite useful meeting, and my vocabulary was developed in a manner that I could apply in a real situation. It also helped me to remember that learning is easier when it is related to real context instead of learning a list.
