First Meeting (Finnish&Thai) by Thanatchphakorn

Our first meeting was on 12.02.2022. This first meeting was at a Cafe in they city centre called Puisto.

Our first class was for Cecilia to teach Finnish to us. I was very impressed as she had prepared learning material in advance, and it was beautifully done! We started with some basic stuff foe day-to-day conversation as follows:

  1. Hello = Moi/ Hei/ Terve
  2. Bye bye = Moi moi/ Hei hui
  3. Mä = I  —> Mulla on nälkä = I am hungry (I have hunger)
  4. Sä = you
  5. Tää/ Tämä = This
  6. Toi/ Tuo = Thai
  7. Anteeksi/ Sori = Sorry
  8. Kyllä/Joo = Yes
  9. Ei = No
  10. Tai = Or
  11. Ja = and
  12. Sori, mä en puku suomea = Sorry, I don’t speak Finnish

Moreover, she also taught Finnish characters from A-Z and other special characters. I found it a bit hard to remember in the first place, but after practicing for a while, I think it is very similar to the way the English characters are pronounced.

However, there is still something I need to practice, which mostly is pronunciation. In my language, which is Thai, there are not some sounds in Finnish. That means I have to train my muscle more to master the pronunciation.
