At todays meeting (26.10.2024) we went to Hervanta to Hike around one of the lakes. I personally have never been and the nature reminds me alot of Norway and my home Bømlo especially.
During our hike we talked alot about traditions and especially traditional clothing. We came to this topic because for norwegians and germans (espec. we bavarians) – (which i am both) hiking is part of our national identitiy. I told everyone that in Bavaria and therefore this very rual part of Germany we wear traditional clothing called “Dirndl”. Also anna possesses a Dirndl but she only wears hers at the Oktoberfest, whereas I wear mine to all kinds of special occasions like birthdays, weddings and such. We also told the Dutch about a few funny hiking songs we used to sing as kids when going hiking.
Lieke, Dani and Katja told us vise versa about the lack of hiking culture in the Netherlands and that they dont tend to do it that often.
Some words we exchanged during our hike can be found below:
Words:
English German Dutch
Root Wurzel Wortel
Tree Baum Boom
Lake See Meer
