Week 3: Internships and business trips - More words

Selfie at the waffle café

This week we decided to go waffle house Vohvelikahvila in Tampere. Which was very nice. Not only is it a small and cosy café but the assortment of waffles is abundant. From cold with ice and chocolate to warm with salmon and salads. You’ll probably find something there. Next to the wonderful café time we talked about internships and how our experiences vary from each other. I know that in Finland internship will usually earn minimum wage for the time that they work. Sadly, in the Netherlands interns have their own pay which usually isn’t very much. You can imagine it’s something around 400-600 euros for a bachelor’s student in their final year. Anything before that and you’re usually working for “free” up to 350 euro’s a month. In Germany there is also a different kind of pay but it’s not as little as in the Netherlands thankfully.
Since we we’re at the café and we had plenty of cutlery around us we decided to teach some of the words to each other. For example, Spoon in Dutch is Lepel and in German it’s Löffel. Which still sounds funny to me. All in all it was another great time spent together.
