Week 4: Board game words - Accents - More games

board game

This week we decided to go to a cocktail bar and play some board games. Next to the drinks being very nice we played some games. The first game we played was labyrinth in this game you move walls do get to once of the icons on the card you have drawn. To keep in the theme of learning language differences we decided to pick some icon’s and talk about their respective word for the different languages. So, the English word for Beetle is Bille in Norwegian. There were some difficult words like Spøkelse which is Ghost but the interesting thing that Spøkelse sounds close to the Dutch word which is Spook. There was also Mouse and Mus, Dragon and Drage and a few more. When we were exchanging all these words, we also started talking about the pronunciation which led to the accents which we laughed about a lot. We continued to play games such as Uno and next to having fun we tried to all learn something whilst doing it. For example, saying the Finnish, Norwegian, German or Dutch number that was being played.
