My exchange has been a once in a lifetime experience to live in a completely new culture on the other side of the planet. From getting to attend Ritsumeikan Asian Pacific University in Beppu, to traveling all across Japan, making great friends along the way. Japan has left me with so many memories I am losing track.
I did a full academic year exchange at University of Salford, and I miss the place already.
My exchange in The Hague has been a great opportunity to experience a new culture, study UX Design in an international environment and explore life in the Netherlands. During my time here, I have learned not only about my field of study but also about myself and the differences between studying in Finland and the Netherlands.
My name is Niilo, and I have spent my exchange semester in Stuttgart, Germany. I study Media and Arts in Finland, and during my exchange I have been studying courses related to social media, media production and international business at Hochschule der Medien.
Everything seems to run by structure, rules and formality here unlike Finland, which put more emphasis on laid-back and relaxed lifestyle.

I’ll share what it was like to study Film and Motion Design at a private university, survive German winter and million city chaos with only minor emotional damage, and discover the kind of friendships that form when you’re all equally lost in a new country. From concerts to chaotic metro rides, from flea markets to club nights, here’s everything that made my exchange unforgettable, unpredictable, and occasionally a little unhinged in the best possible way.
My study exchange is coming to an end here in Florence, Italy. This experience has taught me a lot and helped me develop both as a person and as a musician. I’m leaving Italy with great memories and new important friendships.
During my exchange in the United Kingdom, I have gained new perspectives on studying creative media in an international environment.
My journey here in Cologne is coming to an end. Spending time with lovely locals and wide range of internationals, this experience has definitely taught me a lot. Highly recommend Cologne for exchange studying, or at least just for a visit!

I was very lucky to be able to spend 10 months studying in Austria. The year was full of new friends, ideas and beautiful nature! I hope I can return to live abroad someday.
You may think that now, with Brexit, it's impossible to study in the UK. Well let me tell you - it's not! Okay, maybe it is slightly harder, but there are still many wonderful opportunities for students! One of them is the University of Lincoln, where I spent a semester studying European cinema and working on a short animated film, as well as exploring the town, visiting pubs, and looking for the perfect coffee shop!
