Hello from Tallinn!
I have been here since November and everything has went very well and I can gladly say that I have come to the right place to do my internship. I am a producer assistant in an Estonian video production company, Vita Pictura OÜ. During the internship I’ve got to work in many different productions such as music videos, movie and helped with everything I’ve could and learned about my industry a lot. At the same time I have done some open studies from different Finnish Universities of applied sciences which have support my studies.
On free time, I’ve spend a lot of time with my new friends from Tallinn. We have gone and tried new restaurants and cafes, went to movies and just hangout together. Probably we have spend most of the time in old town of Tallinn, because there is so much to do and overall it’s very beautiful place.
I have also spent my free time with doing sports like jogging and going to gym. Here is a lot of nice jogging paths, especially the beach path. You can almost the whole Tallinn from there and also pretty sunsets. Sports have been very special thing to me in here, because even though I’ve had a lot of good time here, this have been also a huge change in my life and doing sports has helped me a lot. Another thing I’ve enjoyed has been discovering local groceries due to here’s the products a different compared to Finland. The black bread is very famous bread here and the mayonnaise selection is huge (Estonians love it).
Even though Tallinn is very close to Finland, I can still recognise some differences. I thought that Finnish people English skills are top tier, but I think people in Estonia speak it a lot of better, even the children’s and old people. That’s why it has been easy to meet new people here and spend time. Many Estonian people has explained their good English skills with a possibilities of better future, because after all Estonia is a very small country and not that known in worldwide. So basically if you are dreaming something bigger here, it requires working globally due to Estonia has not that much the same possibilities as Finland has for example. Estonians are also “workaholic” because in my opinion everyone here are at work all the time. The main reason for that are lower salaries (which explains also the cheap prices here), so people are working a lot of more compared to Finland.
After all my internship here has went very well and I’ve seen and learned a lot of new. This experience has totally been worth it!
