Exploring German culture in Frankfurt am Main

Greetings from Frankfurt! During my time here, I've had the incredible opportunity to delve deep into the world of business at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. I am surprised by the level of education here as I find it to be even slightly higher than in Finland. The lecturers have a more authoritative position and are respected, always being thanked by knocking on the desk at the end of lectures.

In Finland, in business studies, there is a lot of group work and presentations. Here, things are almost the opposite. We do a lot of independent assignments, and studying is mainly cramming for exams. At the end of a course, only one exam determines the course grade. I’ve also had to create my own study schedule, and I can attend as many courses as I want because we don’t enroll in courses, only in exams here.

In my free time, I have traveled a lot because our school actively organizes day trips for exchange students. Frankfurt is quite central in Europe, so I have taken advantage of this feature by visiting France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.

I have also resumed my favorite hobby, bouldering, which I had taken a long break from. Many exchange students go bouldering, so I go bouldering at least once a week. My free time is spent mostly with other exchange students.
