Hey!
My name is Elmeri and I’m second year tradenom student from TAMK. At the moment I am doing my Erasmus exchange in Salford University and here I’m student of Business Management. University of Salford is quite big, about 21 500 students. Salford University is only 2 miles from the center of Manchester. Manchester is UK’s third biggest city and there is about 2,8 million people living in Greater Manchester area.
I’m participating for three different courses here, and my point of view the average level of classes is little bit lower compared to Finland. The students are also much less motivated here. In each of my courses I have had the task of doing group work, making a presentation about it and finally writing a report on the work. I’ve had a little trouble forming a group, because my language skills are not very good. However, I have accomplished my assignments.
In my free time here, I have been playing hockey on the university team. The average level is not very high here, as hockey is a small sport in the UK. The hobby is also quite expensive and the practices and games are really late. Still, joining the team has been my best experience during the entire exchange, because I have made a lot of friends and things to do. I have also been able to see other cities and see and experience the local culture. My time in rainy and windy Manchester has been unforgettable and I think it will help me a lot in the future.
