I’m Nelli, a third-year business administration student currently living in Amsterdam, where I’m doing a minor in global branding and marketing across cultures at Hogeschool van Amsterdam. The studies here are quite similar to my studies in Finland, blending practical projects with theory.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my studies so far. With classes only twice a week, I’ve had plenty of time to explore both the city and the country. My coursework includes several projects, two of which involve collaboration with students from the United States— an interesting opportunity!
Having visited Amsterdam before, I was inspired to pursue my exchange studies here, and I’ve never regretted that decision. This vibrant city is full of life, and autumn is absolutely beautiful at the moment! Despite being a big city, Amsterdam has a charming small-town vibe, and I love how walkable it is. The neighborhood of De Pijp, with its lovely atmosphere, has quickly become one of my favorite places to spend time.
In my free time, I’ve visited other cities such as Rotterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, and The Hague, indulged in delicious Dutch cuisine, and taken in the sights of Amsterdam. I also love spending time with friends, whether it’s at cozy cafés or wandering around the city center. The atmosphere in my student residence is also wonderful, with a strong sense of community. We often have activities together, like movie nights, parties, or potluck-style gatherings.
Overall, this experience has been truly enriching so far. I’ve learned so much about myself and grown in ways I never expected. I look forward to what the rest of my time here will bring!
