Hallo aus Wien, Österreich.

Vienna from above

This year I was given the opportunity to complete my summer semester studying Marketing in Vienna, the capital of beautiful Austria. Moving to Austria’s capital has been an exciting experience, allowing me to discover a new culture, meet new people from all over the world, and experience student life in one of Europe’s most livable cities.

During the process of getting ready to come for my exchange, I was given the opportunity to choose the courses I would like to learn and I chose courses that focused the most on marketing. One thing I noticed here is that each class has a faucet and cups in the class for fresh water or to wash your hands. Another thing I noticed was how interactive the teachers tried to make the class so we could all somehow get included in the topic. Many courses included group projects and presentations, which made the learning experience practical and engaging.
Studying in Vienna has also given me the chance to meet international students from many different countries. Working together on assignments and spending time outside of class has helped me gain new friendships. Campus

Being a capital, Vienna has a lot to offer when it comes to places to visit. When I’m not studying, there is always something to do in Vienna. The city is full of beautiful architecture, historic buildings, museums, parks, and cafés. Walking through the city center never gets boring, and I especially enjoy spending time around Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the Danube area. Vienna has a lot of museums you can visit and on the first Sunday of the month all of them have free entrance which allowed us to see a lot of beautiful creations.

A noticeable difference is the atmosphere of the cities. Compared to Finland, Vienna feels much larger and more international. Public transportation is excellent, and the city is constantly full of cultural events, concerts, and activities. At the same time, Vienna offers many green spaces where students can relax and enjoy nature.

My exchange semester in Vienna has been an unforgettable experience. It has helped me grow academically and personally while allowing me to experience a new culture and way of life. If you are considering an exchange destination in Europe, Vienna is definitely worth considering!
