Postcard from Spain

I have spent my exchange period in Spain doing my internship at the Finnish parish. The work has been wonderfully social and diverse — every day has offered something new, from community events to encounters with people of different ages and backgrounds. I have really enjoyed the variety and warmth of this experience.

I came here together with my family, which has made everyday life both lively and rewarding. During our free time, we’ve done many things with the children in mind. We spend a lot of time outdoors — walking, exploring, and playing. Without even noticing, we often end up walking more than 20 kilometers a day!

The sea has become one of my favorite places to relax. I love sitting by the shore, dipping my toes in the water, and reading a book while listening to the waves. In the evenings, we often visit local parks with the kids. They come alive around 7 to 10 p.m., full of families, laughter, and the sound of children playing. It’s such a different atmosphere compared to Finland, where bedtime usually starts much earlier.

Here, life feels slower, warmer, and more connected — people take time to enjoy small everyday moments together.

Sending sunny greetings from Spain, where every day reminds me to slow down and enjoy life’s simple moments. ☀️
