Studies in Wels
During my studies at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Wels, I’m studying environmental technology, chemical engineering, and sustainable processes. The focus is on practical, hands-on learning through different lab works and a research project. I have also courses like project management and market research, which can help me in worklife.
Spare Time in Wels
Wels, though small, offers plenty of charm. Here is not that much events for stydents than in Tampere, but in every month is something. In my free time, I’ve explored Austria’s breathtaking nature and went on hike and skiing. The Christmas markets and cozy cafes have been another highlight, especially during the colder months now. I’ve visited Vienna, Salzburg, and even crossed borders to explore neighboring countries like Germany and the Czech Republic. These adventures have made my exchange even more better with a new ”Erasmus family.”
Finland vs. Austria academic culture
This excange have given a good opportunity to compare Finnish and Austrian academic culture. In Austria I have had more conversations and practises in the lectures. Also almost every course have laboratory or practise orientated part. In Austria lectures have been so much longer than in Finland and teachers speak more stright here and speak without embellishment.
I have growth here a lot cultural and personal. I have had many adventures around the Europe and Austria, where I have learned more about different cultures. I think I will apriciate life in Finland more after this exchange eaven I have had amazing moments here.
