I’m completing exchange studies here in Polytechnical University of Madrid. The workflow here is a bit different from what I’m used to in TAMK, as we have a lot more theoretical lectures and practical tasks are usually a part of homework done in group. I was a bit nervous about doing groupwork as my Spanish skills are nowhere near native level, but I was never mocked because of that by fellow students, they were actually very kind and cheerful for me.

Most of the days I don’t have much classes per day neither much homework, so I’m free to explore the cities and places nearby. I was very happy to find out that the €10-per-month student transport card allows me to travel to places an hour away from Madrid, which gave me access to seeing beautiful small towns with narrow streets and gorgeous mountains around them. Probably one of my favorite trips was to Toledo, which is probably the most famous out of these small towns.

Life here definitely has different rhythm rather than in Finland. Streets are so much busier, the overall schedule of things is at much later time, and even though it has been hard for me to live with no use of English at all, I’m really glad I got to here and I already miss Madrid so much.
