I can’t really believe it how fast this city has captured my heart. It is so incredebly beautiful here with all the bikes, quiet streets and citycats.
My first week at my new school is behind me. It has been an immersive experience seeing how dutch people teach and learn. I’m currently taking part in just on minor which is about hostmanship and hospitality. We luckily only have two days a week when we need to be at the campus but we get a lot of assignments to do independently. Definitely different from studying in Finland!
Local student’s social life here is quite the same compared to student’s life in Finland. Already during the orientation week we saw a lot of clubs, restaurants and other places suitable for students who like to party. International tutors created a lot of activities for us international exchange students! I already miss my overalls though… I need to find a place here where I could buy some new patches to sew on my overalls!
I’ve already been to numerous cafés and restaurants. Earlier this week my friend and I went to check almost all vintagestores they have here in the city of Leeuwarden. I’ve done a lot of sleeping, that’s for sure. I’m still planning on seeing the most important museums and historical landmarks here.
All in all, the city of Leeuwarden is definitely a place to be if you think Amsterdam is chaotic or noisy. Leeuwarden looks the same, feels the same but is waaaaaaaay quieter and calmer than Amsterdam. 10/10 I fully recommend!
