Finnishness

To me Finnishness means, first and foremost, being connected to the nature. Of course not everyone feels this way but I believe the most people imagine their happy place being somewhere surrounded by the nature. The connection can be something big or something small; living in the middle of a forest or growing potatoes on the balcony of your small apartment in the city center. Finnishness is letting your too high blood pressure sink in the woods. It’s eating blueberries during a walk in the forest and swimming in one of the thousands of lakes. It’s getting excited when you see a squirrel climbing in the tree on your backyard. It’s also swimming in a frozen lake just because you heard it feels great and sleeping in a tent even if it makes your back hurt.  Sadly, Finnishness can sometimes be taking the nature for granted.
