Finnishness

Finnishness can be summarized in one word; "Sisu", meaning roughly grit, perseverance, determination and willpower

Finnish culture can be characterized by a strong emphasis on personal space, privacy, and individuality. Nature, simplicity, and practicality are at the core of Finnishness. In terms of social norms, Finns are reserved and tend to avoid confrontations, but they have a strong sense of national pride and value equality and freedom. Sauna and outdoor activities, such as mushroom or berry picking and cabins are a significant part of Finnish culture. While Finnish food is not internationally celebrated, there are some great traditional dishes available such as karelian pies or various casseroles, as well as rye bread.
