Finland is a land of thousand lakes, land of big untouched forests and quietness. These are the things that I appreciate from my home country. The Finnish nature isn’t a thing to take for granted and it is an important thing to appreciate and guard it. Finland is a big country with little amount of people. If desired, you always find a place where to sit in silence and enjoy your own company.
I am from a small town in the countryside. For me, it is important to get alone time there, enjoy the lake and fields and forests. My foreign friends have asked, what is special about Finland. I’ve said that Finland is an introverts dream country: quietness and people giving your personal space. If you like to have walks in the nature, we have a lot of parks and places that are not human made. It is sometimes very hard to appreciate the nature in Finland. We don’t have breathtaking mountains, warm sea etc. But we still have a lot of beautiful nature.
Finnish national parks are versatile, clean and easily accessible. And in Finland, you can even pick berries and mushrooms which is an enriching experience in itself. When I think about Finland and close my eyes, I imagine lakes, trees, little pathways in the forests, quietness and well-being plus good air quality. These are the things that make me proud to be Finnish!
