For me, as a foreigner living in Finland, I have seen a variety of Finnishness in life. For me, it is their love for nature, as well as their culture of sauna and drinking.
Nature, in Finland is seen to be very important, with Finns going for holidays each July to their Mökki and enjoying all the peace and quiet that Finland has to offer. I’ve seen this to be very common in Finland and undeniably a key part of its culture.
Another integral part of Finnish culture I would say is Sauna, as well as drinking (sometimes these go hand in hand with each other!). Finns love a good sauna, and you can always see them going to it, be it winter or summer they will be enjoying the warm heat coming from a sauna. It must be important to note that this goes well for Finns with a few beers (or lonkero), and is the peak of enjoyment for many.
Overall, these customs allow for a reflective, almost philosphical mindset to be fostered and to develop an inner sense of peace.
