As the semester is close to the, our schedule is getting busier and busier but Zichen and I still managed to find time for the meeting. Today focus on the language, the most important and useful phrases that a foreigner visiting China should know. Zichen, my ever-supportive friend, put her heart into crafting materials perfectly tailored for daily use. She even adapted the phrases accordingly, so that I could use them daily.
She helped me practice the pronunciation and even though it is still hard to read in Chinese, I try my best. Hopefully, when I learn the basics, I will be able to pay more attention to the correct intonations in every word.
We covered a range of practical phrases during our sessions—discussing upcoming Christmas plans, navigating through shopping scenarios, and diving into questions about personal preferences and daily routines. Zichen’s selection was spot-on, encompassing everyday situations and cultural nuances.
I feel that with every new meeting, I get a better understanding of both the Chinese language and culture and, hopefully, one day will be able to apply my knowledge to practice.
Meeting 8, 8.12.2023.
