Today, on the 26th of October, we did a hike around the Suolijärvi, it was a cozy Sunday to do a hike. During the hike we talked about our week and we came on the subject traditional clothing.
Anna and Emma told us about the “Dirndl”. This is a traditional dress in Germany. It is normal to wear this dress during Oktoberfest (Wiesn), but Emma told us she wears them to many other celebrations as well, like family parties. We told Emma and Anna (almost all) the Dutch people will wear orange when the Dutch soccer team is playing on the European/World Championship to support them.
We talked about hiking. In Germany they like it to hike. We found out Germany has some different hiking songs, like “Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust”. On the other hand, Dutch people don’t really hike like Germany, because we don’t have hills and mountains. We use our bicycle a lot.
Next to that we talked about different ‘hiking’ words. Emma and Anna taught us the words for root, tree and lake.
Root Wurzel Wortel
Tree Baum Boom
Lake See Meer
