Poem night and tongue twisters

As our fourth meeting, we decided to meet at one of our groupmates’ flat.

We had coffee, cake and then started talking about poetry and tongue twisters in our native language.

We picked poems from famous writers and read them to each other. Then we asked what we think this poem is about and went through its word by word. We quickly discovered that words in our languages can have different meanings from the ones learners know, which made the translation parts fun.

The Poems we chose were:

  • Maamme (FIN)
  • Sommer (GER, Goethe)

When we were done with the poems, we decided to do tongue twisters as well. It was a really fun thing as everyone managed to do the twister in their mother tongue but when it came to the foreign language everyone struggled. But nevertheless, it was good exercise.
