Runebergday

On our second meeting we cooked together. We prepared one typical German main dish and Finnish desert. Eventhough Runeberg day has already passed we decided to prepare the cakes that are typically eaten on Runeberg day and they were really delicious. While we were cooking we asked each other about the different utensils, ingredients and so on. It was a fun way of learning and made it easier to form associations with the vocabulary.
We also learned a bit about Runeberg and how his wife invented the cakes.

Especially through the use of a ‘aasinsilta’, which is made up of the same words in German, it was easier to remeber things. Essi explained to us that a potato is called peruna because potatoes origin from Peru and now i always think about peru and remeber the word.
