For our second meeting, we met at the library to work on numbers, days of the week, and some basic vocabulary. I taught Ilias how to count from 1 to 20 in Finnish and say the days of the week, while he helped me do the same in Spanish. We practised through small games like number guessing and mini dialogues with dates.
I felt that my Spanish pronunciation improved during this session, especially with words like “miércoles” and “jueves,” which used to confuse me. Teaching numbers in Finnish made me more aware of how fast I normally speak. I had to slow down and explain clearly, which was a good teaching exercise for me.
An unexpected thing was realising how similar some learning struggles are. Ilias found “keskiviikko” difficult, and I found “miércoles” just as hard. It made me feel less alone in my challenges.
The main difficulty was remembering Spanish numbers above 15 quickly. Sometimes I had to think for a few seconds before answering. We followed the plan but added games to make the session more dynamic, and that worked really well.
