Today (22.09.2024) we met at the Waffle Café in Tampere City center. We were very lucky to get a table as the cafe is seemingly very popular and filled up pretty quickly. Me for my part, I helped myself to a good old plain apple waffle, as I am lactose intolerant and therefore cannot eat most of the fun stuff one would top a waffle with 🙁
During our lunch we talked alot about breakfast habits in our homecountries, as for both the dutch and the german culture sweet food is mostly a breakfast instead of a lunch item.
Somehow from this topic we found ourselves in a lively discussion about first work experience and unpaid internships. Both in Germany and in the Netherlands we have a lot of the same problems and struggles related to getting a foot in the door in the working industries, even though we all study different things. This was quite reasuring to hear that not only Germany and Norway as the countries I have experiences this problems have this issue but also other nations.
Furthermore we talked about some dutch and german words and found that most of them are pretty similar to one another. Following you can find the list, to learn some for yourself and maybe see some similarities ourself!
English German Dutch
Fork Gabel Vork
Spoon Löffel Lepel
Plate Teller Bord
Table Tisch Tafel
