Greetings from Barcelona

.

I spent the spring semester of 2026 on an exchange in Barcelona, and I am grateful that I decided to make it part of my studies at TAMK, where I study Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership. Living abroad, studying in a different environment in English, meeting countless new people, having new experiences, enjoying my youth, opening my eyes to the international world, and learning about myself on a whole different level taught me so much. It will always be a heartwarming experience that I will carry with me. I can recommend going on an exchange.

1. My studies

In Barcelona, I studied at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and it was a very positive experience. The atmosphere at the university was welcoming and positive. I chose courses that supported my degree program and matched my own interests, and I also took a Spanish language course.

Everything went smoothly, and studying at a university was quite different compared to my studies in Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership at TAMK. It gave me the opportunity to experience a completely different way of studying and to see how education can work in another country.

2. My freetime in Barcelona

There is so much organised for exchange students in Barcelona, with activities available almost every day. There are opportunities for everyone, from hiking trips to party trips to Ibiza and everything in between.

I spent my free time simply enjoying my life abroad. I loved going for coffee, spending time at the beach, meeting lots of new people, experiencing new things and partying with my friends. I fell in love with Spanish culture, the long evenings, going out for dinner late, enjoying life, the music and the Spanish language. People take their time, enjoy their food and company, and simply live in the moment.

3. Comparing studying in Barcelona and Finland

At the university in Barcelona, there were many presentations and group projects, and the level of difficulty varied depending on the course and professor. Compared to my Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership degree program at TAMK, studying there was very different.

Most of the classes consisted of traditional lectures, and the courses included midterm and final exams, which are not really part of my degree program at TAMK.

During my exchange, I also continued working on my own entrepreneurship projects from Barcelona. This allowed me to combine my studies with my own entrepreneurial work and experience what it is like to build my future career from another country.

Overall, my exchange was an unforgettable learning experience about myself and the world. It gave me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and see life from a completely different perspective, something that you can not really learn in the same way without actually living abroad.

I am sure that I spent some of the best days of my youth there. Gracias, Barcelona. ❤️
