Finnishness is one with peace

.

Peace is one of the words that lure into my mind when I hear someone asking or speaking about finnish culture and things wrapped around it. Our traditions almost all are seeking comfort, quietness and relaxation. To be enjoyed alone, with friends or family; either way, it holds its silver lining.

Let’s get to some examples, shall we?

Sauna. Sometimes I think it cures all the little bad things in life for a brief moment. It brings us all together – to get to know new people (for example tutors always host a sauna night for new students), catch up with coworkers or have a moment just for yourself. The place where everyone can be themselves and the shyness of finnish people vanish away.

Saunas are everywhere, but most commonly at summer cottages. We do love our isolation from the outside world, don’t we? Cottages play a significant role in our celebration culture. Finnishness includes the times where you just need some time to be alone and connect with nature.

Finnishness is simple. It is finding happiness even in the tiniest little things. Well-being, social trust and privacy included in the package.

Tell me, don’t all these aspects embody peace?
