8. Meeting: Drinks

What would food be without good drinks?

That’s exactly why we met to talk about typical drinks in the Caribbean, Germany, and even Finland.
Although I’m more of a hot chocolate or tea person (I even have a tea Christmas calendar), I can’t resist a good Christmas punch, quite similar to glögi here in Finland, or a warm cup of Glühwein (mulled wine) at a Christmas market. It’s always a good idea in the cold.

Nisa brought us some Ginger beer from the store, but in the Caribbean, they typically make it themselves. The taste was good and totally different, but a bit too intense for me. Also the recipe sounded doable, but her question about whether we make Glühwein ourselves in Germany left us a bit perplexed. Honestly, I don’t know anyone who makes it at home instead of buying it.

During our meeting, she also introduced us to guavaberry rum, a common drink in the Caribbean. It was new to me, but the way she described it made it sound absolutely delicious.
