MEETING 2. Going for a walk

Learning by walking through the street

At this second meeting, we went for a walk around the city and talked about the elements of the city.
As you can see in the photo we tried Churros as they are very typical in Spain and we wanted to see what the differences were between them.

During this meeting I learnt vocabulary about the different elements that can be seen in the street such as street, house, car, building. I don’t really feel that I learnt much as it is a very complicated language and I can hardly remember any words.
In my case, I taught the same words but in Spanish and I felt quite accomplished as my partner managed to remember quite a few of them.
The experience was a lot of fun but I found it difficult to learn while walking as I am used to a much more traditional model of learning which is based on writing down vocabulary. That’s why I think that by not writing the words down, I didn’t acquire the right knowledge.

At the same time, teaching vocabulary is quite complicated for the same reason, because not being able to write it down, the other person, in my opinion, is left with much less information.

However, I do believe that we have been able to adhere to the initial plan as what we learned/taught is still part of the basic vocabulary of the language so we stick to the plan.
