Sixth Meeting: Verbs and Tenses

We met at the library to focus on verbs, especially in the present and past tenses. I taught Ilias ten common Finnish verbs and their conjugations, while he helped me learn Spanish verbs like ser, ir, and comer. We practised short dialogues about daily activities and past experiences.

This session was quite intense, but I felt that my understanding of Spanish verbs improved a lot. I started to see patterns between regular and irregular verbs, which made it less intimidating. Teaching Finnish verb forms made me realise how complex they are for beginners, so I had to break them down step by step.

An unexpected thing I noticed was how explaining Finnish helped me notice details about my own language that I had never thought about consciously, like negative forms and vowel harmony.

The challenge for me was remembering the past tense conjugations in Spanish. I mixed up some endings, especially for irregular verbs. We stuck to the plan but spent extra time on the past tense because both of us needed it.
