Seventh meeting (15.11)
The seventh meeting consisted of chatting while walking through a snowy forest where there was a small lake. We saw a lot of ducks (“ente”) and squirrels (“einhörnchen”).

The subject of architecture came up, as Chiara is a student of architecture. We all said that on the outside we find the churches fascinating, but when you enter them they are very simple compared to the German or Spanish gothic style.  Chiara also commented on the characteristics that houses in Finland  have to have: the special balconies for the snow, the showers in the bathrooms…

As we were talking about this, more topics of conversation came up, such as the rumour that Scandinavians take their children out on the balcony to benefit their immune system and to be able to fight the cold.  A very shocking habit for all of us!

Although it had nothing to do with it, we also talked about the sports we played when we were little and the ones we play now. Marlen and I learned that athletics in German is “Leichtathletik”.

It was very entertaining to get to know each other and to deliberately talk about topics that arise in the conversation. I like the fact that it was all fluid and not stilted. In conclusion, it was a very pleasant walk.
