I’ve just arrived in the Netherlands for my studies, and I’m excited to dive into a new academic adventure. While I haven’t started my classes yet, I’ve noticed that the mode of operation is a bit different from Finland. It seems like there are lots of websites and apps to download just to access basic things like timetables or Moodle. It feels less organized compared to Finland, but I’m eager to see how it works once I begin my courses.
Spare Time in the Netherlands: During my spare time, I’ve been exploring not only Amsterdam but also other charming Dutch cities. Joining ESN (Erasmus Student Network) has been a fantastic way to meet new friends and embark on exciting adventures together. I even took a captivating canal tour in Amsterdam, which allowed me to see the city from a different perspective. To stay active and healthy, I’ve made it a habit to walk at least 10,000 steps every day, discovering hidden gems along the way.
Comparing Dutch and Finnish Educational Culture: While it’s too early to make a comprehensive comparison, I’ve already noticed some differences in the educational culture here in the Netherlands. In Finland, the education system is known for its efficiency and organization. However, here, it seems like there’s a bit more reliance on various online platforms, which can be a bit overwhelming at first. Also, the approach to teamwork in studies is different. In Finland, there’s a strong emphasis on collaborative learning, but here, it appears to be less team-oriented. Nevertheless, the friendly and open attitude of students in the Netherlands has made it easy to form connections outside the classroom, and I’m looking forward to exploring this aspect further as my studies progress.
I’ll keep you updated on my educational journey here in the Netherlands, and I can’t wait to see how this experience unfolds. Until then, greetings from Amsterdam!
