Free time
Outside of school, I spent most of my free time with other exchange students. Almost all of us lived in the same big apartment building, so there was almost always someone around and it was easy to make plans together. One of the best parts of my exchange was definitely meeting people from all around the world and making new friends.
I also really enjoyed exploring The Hague, especially Scheveningen Beach, as well as visiting other cities in the Netherlands. During my exchange, I also travelled to different countries in Europe. Travelling was much easier and faster from the Netherlands than from Finland, so I tried to take advantage of it as much as possible.
Studying at THUAS
During my exchange, I studied Business Administration and took many courses related to marketing. I really enjoyed studying at THUAS. Everything worked smoothly and exchange students were taken into consideration very well, which made studying in a new country easy. I was also surprised by how similar the study system was compared to Finland.
Studying in the Netherlands vs. Finland
I was surprised by how similar studying in the Netherlands was compared to Finland. The classes and lectures, assignments, communication with teachers and independent studying were quite similar to what I am used to in Finland.
One difference I noticed was the exams. At THUAS, the exams were organised in a much bigger and more formal way, which reminded me of the Finnish matriculation exams. Overall, moving from studying in Finland to studying in the Netherlands felt quite easy because the study systems were so similar.
