Finnishness

This is a blog post about the essence of Finnish people.

Finnish people are natives of a country called Finland. Finland is located in the North of Europe, between Sweden and Russia,  both of which have occupied Finland on numerous occasions throughout history. This malicious domination from two great monarchies has led Finnish people to have low self esteem and low standards of culture in general. In modern times globalisation has had a positive effect on the forest nation in terms of culture. Where as in the past finns would not speak to strangers, nowadays we still do not but like to chat on the internet on anonymous message apps.

Then there’s all that jazz about ice hockey, sauna, clean water and forests (which the powers that be carefully but tenaciously destroying), but you can search that stuff in google, no point in repeating the same old cliches.

In summarum: in my opinion finnishness consists of social awkwardness, low self esteem (as a nation), clinging on and bathing in past revelations, simpleton culture and a few positive things, like sauna, Sibelius, Canth, Litmanen, Rättö & Lehtisalo.
