We met in a very cute cafe in the city center called „Kaffila“, where we had some coffee together. First of all we introduced ourselves to each other, where we exactly come from and what we are studying. We talked a lot about our home country and what we are missing the most from our home culture. For the two Spanish girls it is the dish „balatas bravas“ what I absolutely understand because its also one of my favorite Spanish dishes and I absolute love these when I am in Spain. Laura and I are missing Brezeln a lot. We knew that the Lidl Supermarkets have Brezeln but they are not that very good, therefore we both prefer the fresh ones from a German bakery. In our conversation about our most missing food we learned our first Spanish words.
It was very interesting because we figured out that the German and the Spanish culture are very different.
We talked also about our Finnish culture shock and all the differences here in Finland in comparison to our home counties. We figured out that the Finnish people drink a lot alcohol, even that the prices are very high for alcohol. The Spanish girls told us that it’s a big change for them that the Finnish people are very silent. For all of us the window situation is very different then in our home countries. Here there is no way to do shock ventilation (the German word is „Stoßlüften“), it’s a very German thing. Every German is doing this and loving it.
After getting to know each other we made plans what we would like do in the next meeting and especially what we would like to learn.
I think we will have a good time together!
