Today we met at the TAMK University in one of the work spaces. First we talked a little bit small talk and how our last week was. Then we decided to teach each others the basics from our two languages. The first thing was that we found out that we have different keyboards (in Spain: Ñ “eñe”) (in German: ö,ä,ü), and the z & y are at different places on the keyboard. We talked a lot about how our languages sound for foreigners which don’t know the language. Marlen and Carla said that German always sounds hard but not strict. For Laura and me (and I think also for a lot of other Germans) Spanish sounds very fluently and smooth. Often you don’t know if they are in a good or in a bad mood because they speak with so much passion and so so fast. When you think you can speak Spanish with native speakers, you cant!!! It’s impossible, they speak crazy fast. Marlen and Carla told us, that for German and French people it’s often very difficult to pronounce the Spanish „RRR”. There are two different ways to pronounce the RRR. The harder one and the softer one. Which RRR you need in which case, depends on the meaning from the word (for example “Caro” = with a hard R). Caro means “Einkaufswagen” in German.
We taught each other a lot of very simple sentences like: “How are you?” / “Thank you” / “You are welcome” / “My name is” and a lot more. We talked a lot in Spanish and German to improve our new learned language skills. In the end we talked over often used Idioms in Germany (like “etwas ist niegelnagelneu” – in English “something is very very new”). That was very very funny. I forget sometimes how crazy the German language can be. So summed up we had a very good afternoon together.
I am looking forward on seeing the girls next week again.
