My Finnishness

Lapland and Finnish traditions

I am from Northern Finland, which is called Lapland. Lapland is a big part of my Finnishness. I have grown in the woods full of annoying mosquitos and near the snowy fells. I don’t know anything as relaxing as riding a snowmobile to the top of a fell to admire the landscape and eat provisions and drink hot chocolate. I also love downhill skiing and I like to do it every winter.

Finnish traditions are part of my Finnishness. It is important for me to spend a traditional Finnish Christmas with my family. It includes a Christmas church, a Christmas sauna, a common Christmas meal and the opening presents together. As for Midsummer, I like to celebrate at the cottage with my friends.
