TeknologiaUra – fair was held in Tampere-talo

TeknologiaUra fair is organized annually in Tampere-talo in mid-November to educate future talents about different career possibilities in technology. TAU and TAMK had a joint stand which Computing Sciences joined to promote local options for higher education to high school, middle school and vocational school students as well as their teachers. The fair had around 30 stands ranging from local manufacturing companies to multinational IT service companies and everything in between.

TAU’s stand was prepared in co-operation with multiple faculties: ITC, BEN and ENS. This resulted in variety of different demos and activities to attract young minds: Pneumatic “Angry Bird” Catapult, Electric Excavator, Robodog, Tic-tac-toe Robot, Furhat Social Robot and Space Battle -electronic game. We obviously had also some candy and reflectors to be handed out but the main interest of the visitors was in the various games and robots, as you would expect. Also, a collection of videos was played non-stop to show different research projects in the university’s stand.

One part of the TeknologaUra – fair was short “elevator talks” that were given from the podium, Tuni presented our study paths, and our student ambassadors were interviewed about how they ended up studying their fields.

Here are some photos and videos from the fair, hopefully Tuni will be participating also next year, this year was a huge success!
