TAMK Talent Boost and Tampere Chamber of Commerce have jointly organised company visits for a year to bring together students and companies interested in international talents. Companies participating in the spring 2024 campaign once again invited TAMK's international students for a visit and offered students internships and projects.

One of the companies that signed up for the visit in spring 2024 was Tammer Brands Oy. Tammer Brands is an international company with a strong focus on consumer products, with an extensive global procurement network. Tammer Brands’ hope was to achieve continuous cooperation with students of TAMK through collaboration, and they offer diverse training opportunities for students.

A visit to Tammer Brands was organised for TAMK students in April 2024. A dozen TAMK students participated and two students, Mikael and Hassan, were offered internships for the summer of 2024. Mikael completed his internship in Tammer Brands’ procurement team, and Hassan’s duties were focused on Corporate Sustainability.

“Hassan was interested in our responsibility program during the visit, and he was also interested in an internship in responsibility tasks. We didn’t have such a place, but after talking with Hassan, it was decided to organize the training. Conveniently, we had a project going on, and we were able to take a student to learn.” – Piia Lundberg

Hassan had previous work experience in the field from his home country and found an internship at Tammer Brands. His tasks are related to Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and on the requirements and reporting of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Hassan says that the training has gone well and felt unique. In his opinion, the orientation has also gone excellently, and he has learned a lot from his supervisor. Hassan has felt that he has been part of the work community and team, not just an intern.

Things that have helped Hassan to get an internship:

  • Participation in company visits organized by Talent Boost as well as support measures and guidance from your degree programme
  • Participation in various working life-themed events and networking events (Sprint Innovation Festival, Platform 6, HUBS)
  • Participation in International Case and Sales Competition courses, which gave him confidence in job search and presentation skills
  • The importance of fellow students – sparring together and helping each other teaches a lot
  • Investing in courses and trainings – when you study a lot, you also learn a lot

Tammer Brands feels that cooperation with TAMK is a good opportunity for them. Interns bring fresh insights, and everyone gets new experiences.

“We believe that offering internships to students is also an act of responsibility. The internship gives them work experience, without which it is very difficult to find employment nowadays.” -Piia Lundberg
