My Finnishness

In this blog post I am gonna tell you my experience of Finnishness. So what is Finnishness means to me.

Finnish Tranquility

One cannot fully appreciate the simplicity of life in Finland without acknowledging the enchanting allure of its vast forests, pristine lakes, and magical winters.

My Finnishness (Kalsarikännit)

In Finland, there's this tradition called "Kalsarikännit," or "pantsdrunk." It's a nice way to relax, have some alone time, and just feel comfy.

Appreciating Finnishness

In this blog post, I want to talk about why Finland is so unique to me. It's my home, and there are certain things about Finnish life that stand out. I will explore the elements that define Finnishness in my opinion.

Finnish values

Finland is the hidden gem of Europe. Here you can experience all four seasons, the beautiful Lapland, and go to sauna as much as you like but don't let 5 minute summer, seasonal depression or brutal honesty bum you out.

Uniqueness of Finland

Simplicity is a word I would choose to describe Finland. Nature, sauna and quite…what else could you want?

Wonders of Finnish nature

Finnish culture is tightly intertwined with the country's natural landscapes, offering a unique lifestyle rooted in the traditions of the great outdoors. Pitch-dark winters, nightless summers and forests in the middle of it all are my favorite part of my country.

Finnish sauna culture

Finnish sauna culture and all it's traditions are very unique. In the past people have used saunas as treatments to diseases, given birth in them and even dried grain in the sauna. Back in the day people believed that in every sauna, there lived a sauna elf or spirit. Although transformed more into modern time saunas still hold some of the old times spirituality and superstitions.

Finnish mentality

If we ignore all the subjective stereotypical "Finnish things", being Finnish boils down to a certain mentality, which we tend to share in common. I would describe it as this "I should've seen this coming" attitude, but not exactly always expecting the worst. Which also can be quite usual.

The beauty of different seasons

In Finland one can experience all the four seasons in their own unique beauty. In this blog post I discuss about summer and winter.

Finnishness

To be Finnish is to embody a unique cultural identity, a fusion of nature's embrace, resilience in the face of adversity, and an unwavering commitment to social equality. It's a celebration of saunas, an appreciation for silence, and a deep connection to traditions like Midsummer. Being Finnish means carrying a legacy of innovation and design, cherishing strong social bonds, and taking pride in a nation that harmoniously blends modernity with a rich cultural heritage. This is the essence of being Finnish.

Finnishness

When I need to describe a Finnish person, which is quite common, (we are not very well known and tend to be mixed with Swedish people or other Northen folk), first adjective that comes to my mind is solitarity.

Finnishness

What Finnishness means? Finnishness means a lot of things, for example determination and resilience, love for nature, sauna culture and appreciation for simplicity. Finns also value equality, education and social welfare. Those are not self-evident for everyone and i take it as a blessing to have those in our country. Finland is safe place to live and i am proud to call it my home country. We also have a beautiful nature and a lot of lakes in here as they say "Finland is a Land of thousand lakes".

Warm autumn in Spain

I'm gonna be a bachelor of social work (who does not like autumn and coldness) so I decided to do my last practical training in Fuengirola, finnish speaking school and enjoy the warmth for couple more months.
